This is not your average video game, as its filled with rage comics, visual novels and a lot of hilarious, odd and really disturbing stuff. I mean, not only are you controlling a hilariously dysfunctional family but you can also make them do all sorts of weird things that are so fucked up they are not even funny. You can watch them get beaten to death by enemies, be thrown into a volcano and die. You can throw them into a giant oven and watch them burn to death. You can throw them at fire and watch them run for their lives, only to be turned into a baby and thrown at a cesarean section. You can set them on fire as well and cause them to spit out a human rib cage that will then use it to cut themselves to bits and then those bits use it to stab them to death. Its almost like a bad film. Its so bad, in fact, that one of the writers for said film was involved in this game. In fact, the only reason it is on this list, is that its one of the few interactive movies, so to speak, that is not only more ambitious in scope, but is also more inherently good than the film it was based upon. The soundtrack is also much better than the average film. In the end, the only thing it was missing, was more people.
I mean, you can control a little kid. Thats just playing video games. The game was an attempt at taking a well established genre and making it more interactive. Unfortunately, the final result was a bunch of poorly scripted events, failing to achieve the result it set out to achieve.

M.U.L.E. was a great game in the first place but her subsequent work on the company, an experimental RPG called, The Gallery, that was about as close to Sunset as anything, was both impressive and indicative of the games direction. The Gallery was a complete failure that despite taking the best and worst ideas of the industry, took everything good about M.U.L.E. and innovated on them. Using a truly unique gaming mechanic called the Playing Card Engine (which still haunts me to this day), The Gallery could be played with 1 to 6 players by each writing cards for different roles that you played. These cards acted as action points, something that came from M.U.L.E. but was never explored as much as it should have been. Players could design their own cards to act as mechanics that were extremely unlike anything else on the market, even the card game mechanic, the card game, the card game. The Gallery had big ideas and failed to execute on them but if it had been more than a one shot game, it could have been the next Donkey Kong.
